About Warner Robins Housing Authority

The Warner Robins Housing Authority has 426 units of public housing in the City of Warner Robins and 40 units under the Houston County Housing Authority.

The 426 units of public housing are located throughout the City. The first Public Housing Community, T.J. Calhoun Homes, was built in 1960 and was named after Mr. T. J. Calhoun who was a bank loan officer at Citizens State Bank. Cam Campbell Homes was built in 1960 and was named after Mr. Cam Campbell who was the first black Sherriff in Houston County. Approximately five years later, Oscar Thomie Homes was built and named after Mr. Oscar Thomie who was the 2nd president of the NAACP of Houston County. Kemp Harrison Homes is the only senior community under the Warner Robins Housing Authority. Kemp Harrison was built in 1972 and was named after the then Mayor of Warner Robins. Jimmy Rosenberg Homes was built in 1977 and was named after Mr. Jimmy Rosenberg who was the president of the Chamber of Commerce. The Kathleen Bynum Community was built in 1982 and is named after Kathleen Bynum, a prominent citizen and advocate for the citizens of Warner Robins. The Kathleen Bynum Community is made up of duplexes, triplexes and single family units. Herman Watson Homes was built in 1983 and named after Herman Watson who was the State Representative for Warner Robins. Mary B. Terry Homes was built in 1997 and was named after Mary B. Terry who was a prominent citizen and land owner in Warner Robins.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) administers Federal aid to Warner Robins Housing Authority to manage its housing for low-income residents at rents they can afford. HUD also furnishes technical and professional assistance in planning, developing and managing the properties.
